Fulton County 4-H Fall Festival offers fun for the entire family

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Fulton County 4-H is hosting a Fall Festival on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Fulton Camp Truitt located at 4300 Herschel Road in College Park. Families will enjoy trick or treating, carnival games and crafts, a pumpkin push contest, a pumpkin ring toss, a bobbing for gummy bears contest, and many more fun activities. Everyone is encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.

The Fall Festival is a good time to learn about 4-H and how the program positively  affect their lives by assisting them in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society.

ATLANTA -- Now that its fall and the weather is cooling down to a decent level and the rain has finally calmed down, this is a great weekend to get out with the family.

Well since this Saturday is also National States Park Day, this is the perfect time to get out with the family for some outdoor fun.

On Sept. 28, you will not pay for admission or for parking to see some of the most beautiful natural beauty that is the Georgia State Parks.

What makes this even better is that there are a ton of events and volunteer acts you can do at the state parks on this day as well.

Fulton County Cooperative Extension sponsors free workshop for budding entrepreneurs

ATLANTA -- Have you ever considered starting your own home-based business? Fulton County Cooperative Extension will sponsor a free workshop on Starting a Home-Based Business on Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System’s Central Library, 1 Margaret Mitchell Square, Suite 109, Atlanta.

Participants will gain valuable information to help them start and maintain a successful home-based business. Specific topics will include how to identify fraud and scams billed as business opportunities, space and time needs, identifying factors that contribute to success and much more.  

Fulton County Cooperative Extension hosts monthly classes on a variety of topics such as nutrition, financial management, diabetes and gardening. Classes are held in locations throughout the county.  Call 404-332-2400 for more information.

Hapeville Movie Nights to begin Apr. 19

HAPEVILLE, Ga. -- The votes are in, and the city has decided the lineup for its 2013 Hapeville Movie Nights.

The fun will begin Apr. 19 with a screening of Madagascar 3. Wreck-It-Ralph will be shown May 17, and Men in Black 3 will screen on June 21.

All movies in the city's film series begin at 7:30 p.m. and are shown at the Hapeville Football Stadium, behind the Hoyt Smith Center. If it rains, the movies are moved to inside the center. Admission is free.

5K to kick off Spring Into Action Festival

5K to kick off Spring Into Action Festival

HAPEVILLE, Ga. -- This year's Hapeville Spring Into Action Festival will be held Saturday, Apr. 13.

The fun will begin with an 8 a.m. 5K run/walk to benefit Fulton County Schools' Kids in Transition Program, which serves homeless children.

Visit active.com to sign up for the race, which begins and ends in Hapeville's Master Park on Claire Drive, just north of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Registration is $20, which includes a festival T-shirt.

Fulton County voters can cast ballots and get their flu shots beginning Oct. 27

ATLANTA -- Fulton County Voters can “Vote and Vax” beginning Saturday, October 27, 2012.  Voters can cast their ballots and obtain their annual flu slots as a part of an effort to reduce the risk of flu among citizens.  Vote and Vax primarily targets adults aged 50 or older.
