Fulton County, Manpower to host data entry specialist recruitment

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- The North Fulton Career Center will host an onsite recruitment in partnership with Manpower on Thursday, Jan. 8, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Manpower is seeking data entry specialists. The North Fulton Career Center is located at 7741 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. Business attire is required, with no jeans, T-shirts or sneakers allowed.

 Data Entry Specialist.

Candidates will be responsible for a Data Entry quota of 10,000 keystrokes per hour.
They will be entering medical information so accuracy is required. The successful candidate will be accustomed to working in a high volume/ fast-paced environment. Applicants who obtain positions will also be responsible for consistently practicing safety-conscious behavior in all processes and procedures and must be willing to work a full-time schedule with shifts that include the following:

Weekend roadwork gets off to slow start in 2015

(WXIA) -- The end of the holiday season means the start of another year of construction on metro Atlanta roads and highways.

Next week, drivers are asked to avoid Interstate 285 north in Cobb County if possible. Projects and lane closures in the area are expected to cause delays.

As in 2014, all roadwork is weather permitting.

Here are some of the projects scheduled for the first weekend and full week of the new year.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Fulton County Commissioner William “Bill” Edwards, District 7 (fifth from left) and Fulton County Police Chief Cassandra Jones (fourth from left) cut the ribbon on Monday, Dec. 29, to celebrate the planned opening of the Old National Highway Precinct.

Commissioner Edwards and Chief Jones were joined by business, community and other county leaders for the ceremony. The precinct, set to open its doors before the end of the first quarter in 2015, will be the first Fulton County Police precinct to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The precinct will open in the old Aaron Rents retail store location at 5539 Old National Highway. The space will house patrol operations, special services, administrative office headquarters and code enforcement. Additional available services will include but are not limited to police reports, accident reports, fingerprinting for gun permits and work permits.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Comcast recruiters will visit Fulton County’s North Fulton Career Center on Monday, Jan. 5, and the Adamsville Career Center on Tuesday, Jan. 6, to take applications for Rep I Telesales.

The recruitments begin at 10 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. The North Fulton Career Center is located at 7741 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs and the Adamsville Career Center is located in the Adamsville Regional Health Center located at 3700 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW in Atlanta.  Business attire is required, with no jeans, T-shirts or sneakers allowed.

Applicants who obtain employment will be expected to call existing customers to sell various Comcast products and services.  Sales representatives must provide the following services while carrying out other responsibilities as assigned.  Those responsibilities are listed below:

Metro Atlanta unemployment plunges to 6.5 percent

Metro Atlanta unemployment plunges to 6.5 percent

(WXIA) -- The unemployment rate in metro Atlanta dropped to 6.5 percent in November.

That's down five-tenths of a percentage point from October's 7.0 percent. The rate was also 7.0 percent in November 2013.

Fulton County's November unemployment rate was 7.3 percent.

State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said the Atlanta area added nearly 18,000 jobs in November. Many of the new jobs are in transportation, administrative services, health care, food service, finance and manufacturing, according to data from the Georgia Department of Labor. Unemployment insurance claims also dropped last month.

Metro Athens had Georgia's lowest November unemployment rate, at 5.0 percent. The highest was 9.0 percent, in the Heart of Georgia-Altamaha region.

(WXIA) -- Drivers in the Atlanta area: Just make it through this weekend, and then you'll get a much-needed break.

The Georgia Department of Transportation said it will suspend all construction-related lane closures from Dec. 23 to Jan. 2.

Until then, many of the usual areas will see crews hard at work through next Monday morning.

Cobb/Fulton counties
* Two eastbound lanes of I-20 will be closed for about one mile past Six Flags Parkway from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Saturday for bridge joint and header replacement.

Coweta County
* One northbound lane of I-85 will be closed between two miles south of Highway 14 and McCollum-Sharpsburg Road from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for barrier wall setting.

Weekend roadwork: Once again, avoid I-20 on the west side

(WXIA) -- Drivers are asked to avoid non-essential travel on Interstate 20 on Atlanta's west side this weekend.

Georgia Department of Transportation crews will perform several road projects on I-20 as well as other areas of metro Atlanta. Lane closures and delays are expected.

All work is weather permitting.

Cobb County
* Two northbound lanes of Cobb Parkway will be closed at the Chattahoochee River on Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon for pavement repairs.
* Two southbound lanes of Cobb Parkway will be closed at the Chattahoochee River on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. for pavement repairs.
