COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- First time homebuyers can learn the best strategies for buying a home during a workshop on Tuesday, Apr. 28.

The 6:30 p.m. workshop will be held in the College Park Branch Library located at 3647 Main Street. Topics to be discussed include:

• Fulton County Home Ownership Program
• What is needed to purchase a home

Fulton County to host Jimmy John's recruitment

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Fulton County’s Office of Workforce Development will host a recruitment for Jimmy John's on Wednesday, Apr. 15 at the Adamsville Career Center from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Jimmy John's wants to hire inshoppers (quality control samplers) and delivery drivers. Applicants must complete the employment application before attending the recruitment.

Applicants must be prepared to provide superior customer service, must be self-motivated, pay attention to detail and enjoy interacting with customers. Responsibilities include slicing meat, cheese and vegetables. Those who are hired will also clean the store and follow specific opening and closing procedures. Inshoppers/samplers receive up to $9 per hour, plus sales incentives.

Applicants must have valid driver’s licenses, insurance, and dependable vehicle for some positions. Delivery drivers serve customers within a 5-mile radius of the store, and the service area is strictly enforced.

Taxes are due April 15. The extension only gives you additional time to file your return; it is not an extension of time to pay the tax that may be due. The assessed tax, even if you have not yet determined how much it is, is due by the April 15 deadline.

Fulton County to sponsor free paper shredding events

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Celebrate Earth Day at two free paper shredding events sponsored by Commissioner Joan P. Garner, District 4, and Fulton County Water Resources.

Fulton County residents are encouraged to take advantage of these free events to have personal papers and documents securely shredded. Residents are urged to make sure that the materials they present for shredding do not include plastic, cardboard, or metal. Paper clips and staples do not need to be removed. No businesses are permitted to participate.

The free secure shredding events will take place on Saturday, Apr. 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at two locations:

Fulton County seeks future leaders

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Fulton County’s Department of Aging and Youth Services Department, Office of Children and Youth is recruiting high school students with interest and/or future aspirations in the areas of community development, law, public policy, political office, debate and much more.

Selected students will be involved in planning the economic, legislative, and social future of youth. Program participants will work directly with local elected officials and state legislators to identify potential solutions for issues that affect the quality of life in Fulton County.

Missing 14-year-old Atlanta girl returns home


ATLANTA -- A 14-year-old Atlanta girl who apparently ran away from home has been found safe.

Ni-Jera Towles disappeared Monday at around 7 p.m. Atlanta Police said they believe she left her Hapeville Road home while her mother was out buying food. Investigators found no signs of foul play or evidence that the teen was taken from the house against her will.

Investigators reported Thursday night that Ni-Jera has since returned home.
