HAPEVILLE | Chick-fil-A now offering grilled nuggets | News
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
ATLANTA -- Chick-fil-A is doing its part to combat childhood obesity by offering healthier menu options for kids, the Hapeville-based restaurant chain announced Monday.
Customers can now order grilled chicken nuggets instead of fried. A four-pack of the gluten-free grilled nuggets contains only 80 calories and one gram of fat, according to Chick-fil-A dietitian Jodie Worrell.
Kids can also choose to replace fries with a fruit cup or the new Buddy Fruits, a squeezable pouch of cinnamon applesauce.
Additionally, Chick-fil-A changed its kid-sized beverage line to only feature one-percent milk, apple juice, water or the chain's signature lemonade.
A Chick-fil-A Kid's Meal of grilled nuggets, fruit and one-percent milk contains only 210 calories and three grams of fat -- one of the most nutritious children's meals offered by any major fast food chain.
"Our new Kid's Meal reflects our commitment to helping parents strike a balance between nutrition, convenience and price," Woody Faulk, Chick-fil-A vice president of brand strategy and design, said in a statement. "We want parents to know that they do have a choice at Chick-fil-A."
Worrell said Chick-fil-A is now working to reduce sodium across its menu in such items as the Chargrilled Chicken filet, sauces and salad dressings.
