South Fulton cities unite to squash litterbugs

HAPEVILLE, Ga. -- Students at Hapeville Elementary School are about to learn what happens when they don't pick up their trash.

At 10 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 22 (Earth Day), mayors and local police chiefs will be waiting for them with citation booklets -- or maybe even handcuffs.

The "Cool Cats Don't Litter -- Trash it Properly or Get a Ticket" initiative is an educational partnership between the Fulton County School System's Teaching Museum South, Fulton County Government and six South Fulton cities -- College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Palmetto and Union City.

Aimed at teaching civic responsibility, the program will help students be aware of the environmental hazards of littering and the negative impact it has on the community.

BEST SPOTS: Inexpensive Dates

BEST SPOTS: Inexpensive Dates

SOUTH METRO – For this week’s installment of Best Spots, we've compiled a list of Inexpensive Date Spots for you to take your special someone.

In today’s economy, it’s important to find companionship which, in our opinion, is the cheapest form of entertainment. However, it’s the springtime, and people like to get out every now and then. So, check out these suggestions for fun under $15.

If you had a rough week, take your date to Range, Guns and Safes to blow off some steam. Every Wednesday, this range, located in Forest Park, costs $10 for the first hour of target practice for male/female couples. Subsequent hours are $12 each.
