Last Day for United Way's Online Auction with special VIP Gifts

Atlanta, GA--  Just in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta is sponsoring “Gift Back: An Online Auction” for the first time.  Dozens of items and packages will be available for bids from Nov. 26 through Dec. 6, 2010, by logging on to unitedwayatlanta.org.

Anyone wishing to nab one or more of the wonderful items, donated by local and national organizations, should bid and bid often to increase their chances of winning. Once bidding ends Dec. 6 at midnight, those with winning bids will be contacted by a United Way representative.

This is a public auction.  Funds will go toward reaching the United Way 2010 fundraising goal of $80.2 million. Some of the items available for bids include a trip to Super Bowl, tickets to the Tony Awards, Emmy Awards, Cancun getaway, a night with the Atlanta Braves, artwork, collectibles, airline tickets, Olympics paraphernalia and much, much more.

Hapeville Wednesday Lunchtime Sidewalk Concert Series

Atlanta, GA--  Hapeville is a proud partner of the annual South Fulton Tour de 29 Festival of Cities.  Initiated by 7th District Fulton County Commissioner William Bill Edwards through the Fulton County Arts Council, south Fulton businesses, government agencies, and community leaders have joined forces with emerging artists of south Fulton and Greater Atlanta to enhance and promote economical growth in the six south Fulton cities. 

Wednesday lunchtime strolling Concert Series (4 concerts, every Wednesday in October), 12 p.m. to 1 pm. (Grant funded event.) Strolling musicians will be in historic downtown Hapeville to entertain the lunchtime customers of our downtown businesses!

Fulton Commissioners Vote to Accept Renewal Grant for Services to Homeless Citizens

As of October 6th, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved a one-year grant renewal for services to the homeless. The funds which will be provided by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will be used to provide services to help homeless citizens to overcome substance abuse, to prepare for employment and obtain permanent housing through the Office of Emergency and Transitional Housing. 

The county will add matching grant dollars of $287,571, which will bring the actual funds committed to $974,058.

The grants funds will be used in collaboration with 31 community-based agencies to provide funds to address substance abuse issues for those who are identified as being in need of assistance.
