Interfaith Coalition of Fulton holds summit

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- The Fulton County faith community is invited to join Fulton County Health and Human Services to discuss chronic disease issues in a joint effort to define opportunities to address health issues and identify policies and practices that can effectively decrease the impact of chronic diseases in our communities. Interested parties should register by contacting Nazeera Dawood at 404-613-7685 or nazeera.dawood@fultoncountya.gov.

The summit, entitled “Barriers & Bridges: Integrating Faith, Science & Policy to Promote Health”, will be held Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 10:00am – 3:00pm at the College Park Regional Health enter located at 1920 John Wesley Ave. in College Park, GA, 30337.  The event is FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC.

The goal of the summit will be to also reinitiate the Interfaith Coalition of Fulton to increase awareness of health and economics among faith communities and provide a collective interfaith voice for effective and long term policy, systems and environmental (PSE) change throughout Fulton County.

The Interfaith Coalition of Fulton County was initiated in March 2012 and was one of the teams selected for the Healthy Weight Collaborative (HWC) project 2012-2013, a national initiative where several stakeholders worked with the interfaith community together to reverse the obesity epidemic in Fulton County. Under the leadership direction of the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness’ Division of Health Promotion, the Interfaith Coalition has made great strides to spread the prevention message.
