The Office of Cultural Affairs is offering Atlanta Youth Cultural and Educational After School Prog.

Atlanta, GA--  

The Office of Cultural Affairs is offering an opportunity for the youth of Atlanta to gain access to after-school cultural and educational enrichment classes.  The JD Sims Recreational Center has reopened under Mayor Kasim Reed in hopes of inspiring youth in the neighborhood and providing a place where they can study. 

This facility features a dance studio, computer lab, large multi-purpose room, arts and crafts room and kitchen.  These areas will be utilized with the help of the After-School All-Stars for tutoring and homework assistance.  In addition the Dance Canvas will be instructing the dance classes, there will be theater classes taught by Theater with True Colors and Character Building with United Brothers.  Our goal is to provide an opportunity for youth to participate in educational and cultural activates that contribute to their growth and achievement. 

Currently the fee for enrollment is $10

14th annual Holiday Music Series Begins at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport

Share in the spirit of the holidays with live musical performances and roving carolers as the 14th annual Holiday Music Series starts tonight at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. 

“Ebenezer Scrooge would never ‘bah, humbug!’ this holiday treat,” said Katherine Marbury, Airport Art Program manager. “This free, winter music series is our gift to every passenger and employee. We’re inviting everyone to enjoy these unforgettable performances across a variety of musical styles.”

The December music series will be held in the Atrium every weekday, December 13-23, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Atlanta, GA-- (submitted by the Atlanta-Airport) Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is proud to unveil the Atlanta Military Gateway youth art program to honor the many military members who pass through the world’s busiest Airport.  The new exhibit located in the north terminal features artwork created by students of Metro Atlanta schools and framed by the Rotary Club of Atlanta.

Hartsfield-Jackson unveils Global Youth Murals exhibition

Atlanta, GA--  (submitted by Atlanta Airport)  Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport officials joined Mary Eisenhower, president and CEO of People to People International (PTPI) and granddaughter of former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, today in unveiling the Global Youth Murals exhibition. The exhibit on Concourse E is a partnership among Hartsfield-Jackson’s Airport Art Program, PTPI and the Colorful Arts Society (CAS).

“The Global Youth Murals exhibition is an exciting chance for the Airport Art Program to share the work of children from all over the world,” said Katherine Marbury, Airport Art Program manager. “It is a wonderful companion to our Youth Art Galleries, and we hope passengers find both the artwork and the message behind it meaningful as they go about their holiday travel.”

The Global Youth Murals exhibit, which consists of 15 murals created by students in 13 countries, was organized by PTPI’s Atlanta Chapter and the CAS.

Atlanta, GA--  The Collective Renaissance Guild (CRG) in partnership with Ford Motor Company and Perennial Sports and Entertainment will hold its 3rd Annual Winter Ball on Saturday, December 4 at the Delta Air Heritage Museum in Atlanta, GA. Winter Ball 2010: Phoenix Rising, will honor Grammy-Award Winning Artist Toni Braxton for her community service with Autism Speaks and the American Heart Association and Martin Luther King III for his global humanitarian efforts and work as President of the King Center. Phoenix Rising is a tribute to Atlanta as well as the honorees who have all demonstrated resilience and an ability to thrive in challenging times.
