Tampa's Miller Named Hartsfield GM

ATLANTA -- Louis Miller, former executive director and CEO of Tampa International Airport, on Monday was named general manager at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed announced Miller's appointment at a press conference Monday afternoon.

He replaces Ben DeCosta, who stepped down in June.

Miller recently resigned as executive director and CEO of Tampa International Airport. He has more than 34 years of aviation experience. From 1996 to March 2010, he oversaw, managed and developed Tampa's International Airport system, which included three general aviation airports: Peter O. Knight, Plant City and Vandenberg Airports.

Miller resigned abruptly in February after clashing with Tampa airport authority members. Prior to Tampa, Miller held several positions with the Salt Lake City Department of Aviation from 1976 to 1996.

Register Early for Hands On Atlanta Day and Win a Chance to Work with Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta, GA--  Registration for 20th Annual Hands On Atlanta Day, one of the largest single-day volunteer efforts in the country, is now open to individuals, families and groups. As many as 10,000 volunteers will participate in service projects throughout metro-Atlanta, renovating public schools, taking part in environmental projects, making much needed repairs to seniors’ homes, and much more. This year’s Hands On Atlanta Day is presented by GE.

Registration is $5 for adults and is free for youths under 18 years of age.  Event proceeds support Hands On Atlanta’s volunteer programs.

Registrants who sign up by September 17 and are at least 18 years old will be entered in a drawing from which 25 lucky participants will be randomly selected to participate in an additional service day with the Atlanta Falcons this spring.

In addition, two of the winning 25 will each receive two round-trip, coach tickets to anywhere AirTran flies.

Many Kids Need 2 Doses of Flu Vaccine

ATLANTA -- While most people will need only one flu shot or spray to guard against H1N1 and the seasonal flu, this year, many children will need two, according to the CDC.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends two doses of 2010-11 flu vaccine for children 6 months through 8 years of age unless they received at least one dose of 2009 H1N1 vaccine last flu season and at least one dose of seasonal vaccine prior to the 2009-2010 flu season or two doses of seasonal flu vaccine last flu season.

The first dose "primes" the immune system, while the second dose provides immune protection, according to the CDC. The second dose should be given 28 or more days after the first dose.

Mendenhall's TD in OT leads Steelers over Falcons

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Rashard Mendenhall broke off a 50-yard game-
winning touchdown run on the Steelers' first play of overtime as Pittsburgh
persevered for a 15-9 win over Atlanta in a defensive battle at Heinz Field.

After the Falcons faltered on the first possession of OT, Michael Koenen's
poor 36-yard punt from the 14-yard-line gave the Steelers prime field
position.

Mendenhall wasted little time in making it count, bursting through a hole off
right tackle sealed off by a textbook block from tight end David Johnson on
his way to the end zone.

Mendenhall ended with 120 yards on 22 carries while Hines Ward came up huge
for Dennis Dixon with six catches for 108 yards.
